Turning love for wife into business opportunities, TSHS chairman invents automatic ovens

Hsieh Wan-hsing, Chairman of Tsung Hsing Food Machinery Co., saw his wife dripping with sweat to bake bread in a high-temperature kitchen every day. But the bread was always burned because the temperature was not easy to control. This inspired Hsieh to apply the heating control technology that he had learned in Japan to the manufacturing of ovens. Thus, he invented the Taiwan’s first oven with automatic temperature controls.

Now, after work, Hsieh comes home to see his beloved wife make delicious bread easily with the help of his invention. He is all smiles. But, Hsieh never stops pursuing his dream because he always thinks about developing a wide variety of useful machines to help reduce the burden of Taiwan’s workers, generate profits for business owners, and make delicious bread for consumers.

Wan Hsing Food Machinery Co., founded by Hsieh in 1965, chose ovens as its first step in the field of food machinery. The company started to develop infrared stoves and sold them to customers around Taiwan in the following year. This was the beginning of changing Taiwan’s food culture in the 1970s.

In 1972, Wan Hsing began to develop a series of infrared radiant gas heating products as its main production line. They include infrared gas grills, automatic stoves, drying equipment, conveyor type auto dryers, and automated submersible frying machines. The company boasts its product quality, reputation, and the R&D capabilities, so its products are widely popular in the market.

In 1979, Wan Hsing was transformed into Tsung Hsing Food Machinery Co.,which developed a full range of automatic drying machines, continuous ovens, and continuous frying machines. Hsieh hopes that factories will be fully automated in the Taiwan’s food processing industry. Fully automated factories can improve the overall working environment and product quality through a series of automated equipment, so all consumers on the island can buy the best quality food.

In 1988, Tsung Hsing began to export its turnkey machinery to overseas countries and invested in a series of shredded fish products. The company not only went to China to set up factories, but also exported a wide variety of the whole-plant equipment to many countries in Southeast Asia and the Middle East.

In 1991, Hsieh set up Chun Yang Food Machinery Co. for exporting products to global markets and providing domestic and foreign customers with better product quality and service.

In recent years, Tsung Hsing has developed and improved the Fryin Series Oil Fryer for the world market. With its unique design, the oil fryer shortens the length of its cooking oil tube by installing the tube inside the machine. As a result, it can reduce the cooking oil capacity, save space and energy, as well as enhance the heat recovery efficiency and heat transfer rate.

The Fryin Series Oil Fryer has obtained the CE Certification and acquired a number of patents in many countries, including India, Thailand, Germany, the U.S., and Malaysia. Besides, Tsung Hsing sells other related products like centrifugal de-fatting machines, continuous fine filtering machines, and the seasoning system.

Over the past few years, Tsung Hsing has been well-known for its brand name “TSHS,” which represents trust, specialty, high-quality, and safety. This brand name also means that the company can provide its customers all over the world with trustworthy and professional service, high quality products, and safe machines.

At present, the company has more than 500 production lines. Its products have been exported to 60 countries around the globe. In 2015, Tsung Hsing celebrated its 50th anniversary – an important milestone for the company. Tsung Hsing aims to grow with its customers around the world, striving to achieve the goal of becoming “the expert of world’s best oil fryers” to celebrate the next 50 years.
